Since 1992, the beautiful Alsatian half-timbered house we occupy has been classified as a historic monument of the city of Strasbourg.
Built in 1562, this bourgeois residence not only offers an exceptionally well-preserved facade with typical ornaments, magnificent wooden panels and grouped windows with columnar frames resting on scroll consoles, but it is also a house with a special soul and walls steeped in history.
From 1640, during the Strasburg Renaissance, the number 8 of the Place du Marché aux cochons de lait housed the production of Mr Laurent Gunther, an oil manufacturer.
For more than 250 years, his descendants continued to occupy the place and to make the family business flourish...
